Amy Caroline's Daybook ~ January 10, 2013

Look how big Tiger is getting!!
Outside my window…
It is very, very dark out there.  A little smattering of snow.  We don’t usually get a lot of snow around here but we have gotten quite a few snow days this last month.  It is truly an anomaly!

I am thankful for…
Friends, both near and far.  These last few weeks I have seen some of my friends go through hard times, joyous times, and also had a few wonderful conversations.

I am thinking about…
Babies!  No, I am not pregnant and even though I would not say no to another little bundle (duh moment there, huh?) I still need to fix what is wrong with me before we would think about another baby.  It is just so amazing to see all these babies being born lately (Kelly and Shelly, congrats!!!).  And news of twins popping up over at Sarah’s blog is so exciting!

I am so thrilled to be at this moment in my life.  I have teens all the way down to babies.  Yet, it would make me feel so sad to think I would never have another baby again.  I really ought to delve into this more…

From the kitchen…
Thinking that this morning might call for some gluten-free pancakes!

I am creating…
I am almost done with Rogue’s sweater.  I have been working on the wrap collar and that was something new for me.  I was having a hard time understanding some of the directions and was ultimately glad for some tutorial videos I found on You Tube!

I am praying for…
This is going to be a bit selfish here… Some things might (might) be moving around at my husband’s work.  Both good and bad.  So we are praying for the good.  The good would be an incredible opportunity for my husband and our family as it would involve a raise!  The bad… well, in the past when his company decided to go to a 6 days on and 2 days off schedule, while it sounds good, it is really bad.  Because then they do lay offs.  Not permanent ones, but ones like oh we aren’t working Saturday and Sunday, but if your rotation is going to be Thursday and Friday off that is a three day work week and that does not pay the bills.  Soooo… we are praying for the good to come and the bad to stay away.

We are also praying for Vava (my husband’s mother) who will be going in for knee surgery later this month.  She is going to need a lot of help.  I went with her to her orientation and it made me so sad to hear about how much pain she is going to be in.  Of course, in the long run she will not have the constant pain she is in now, so that is good.

I am hearing…
Just heard a back door open as I started typing this sentence.  I bet it is Bear come to sit by me while I finish this and browse some blogs before I make breakfast.  He is my blogging buddy lately, sitting by me in these dark early hours.

Around the house…
There have been big changes around here.  And again, that is something that deserves a whole post and not just a mention.  School for us has changed drastically and it has involved a lot of buttoning down around here.  Have I piqued your interest?  lol

One of my favorite things…
Trader Joe's.  Oh Trader Joe's, I think I love you.  Don’t tell my husband, ok?

Plans this week...
  • The gym!!  I have hit a plateau on my weight a bit and have been feeling so unmotivated.  Which is NOT a good combination.  I am so close to my original goal, with 12 pounds more pounds to loose and I would love to reach that by my birthday.  But at this rate… ok, ok, stay positive and GO TO THE GYM!
  • School
  • Drink lots of coffee
  • See Le Miz
  • Visit with a dear friend to celebrate a special day coming up for her

A few picture thoughts…

Ok, is this weird?  Maybe I was inspired by Alicia, as she takes such lovely photos, but the lighting was so good in my room I went around and took pictures of some of my knick kacks.  Ok, maye it is weird.  I thought about a post talking about the little things and what special memories are tied to them and then I though perhaps it would be boring for everyone... well, except me.

So anyway, here is a collage of some of the pictures I took of my favorite room (my room, where I hide all valuables so they don't get broken, lol):

I will tell you about one... see the middle one?  There is a rock there.  I know, odd, right?  There is even writing on it.  Well, it says, poetically, "4-Ever."  Before my husband left for the Army in January of 1993 (*gasp, I am so old, lol*) we went to the beach and I picked up this rock and wrote our initials on one side with the date and that beautiful romantic "4-Ever" on the other side.  20 years later it is still sitting on my dresser next to one of our wedding photos.
